Robin Hermes, M.D. always wanted to work in the medical field. Her goal to help people achieve and maintain health led her to be, as she says, “ultrasensitive to the fact that everyone is different.” This created a desire to ensure that every patient she treats receives individualized medical care since there is “no one size fits all” treatment in medicine.
Robin opened Albuquerque Total Health and joined the BodyLogicMD network of highly-trained physicians after becoming disheartened by the Women’s Health Initiative and struggling with the “pill for every ill” mentality plaguing the traditional healthcare model. In her pain management practice, she saw first-hand the negative effects that poor nutrition, lack of exercise and stress had on her patients and knew there had to be a better solution. That is what led her to transition into integrative medicine – where she could focus on alternative therapies such as bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, professional-grade supplementation, stress-reducing techniques to help patients achieve a better quality of life, as opposed to traditional medicine where costly surgeries and prescription medication is often the answer.
This transition gave Dr. Hermes the opportunity to dedicate more time to each patient and deliver more effective and comprehensive treatments, even assisting patients with preventive treatment options. Robin takes the time to listen to every patient, reviewing their health concerns, symptoms, lab results, and medical history as part of the effort to partner with them to develop a treatment plan that ideally fits their needs and lifestyle. Her extensive training in integrative medicine, nutrition, and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) sets her apart from healthcare practitioners.
Robin Hermes, M.D. earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1993. She completed her residency in Anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore in 1997 and continued at Johns Hopkins Hospital by completing her Fellowship training in Pain Medicine in 1998. Dr. Hermes is also an active member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M).
